Points Criteria
This page explains how points will be awarded to students under the Tier 4 category of the points-based system, in order for them to study in the UK. A student is awarded points to establish if he or she meets the criteria for obtaining a student visa. Of course there are several documents and proofs you need to provide when making a student visa application, but you must also meet certain points to accompany a visa application.
How points are awarded for the student categories
Students should score a total of 40 points across the different criteria, before a sponsor will issue them with the sponsor’s ‘confirmation of acceptance for studies’ (CoS) certificate. The CoS is not a physical document it is a unique reference number issued to the student, which is used when the student is making their student visa application.
